Researchers at Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center in Baltimore, Maryland have found a way to
accurately test chemotherapy drugs before using them on patients. The approach, used
to test chemotherapy drugs on pancreatic cancer involves grafting the cancer cells onto a
mouse where they then test individual chemo drugs to determine which will best kill the cancer
without affecting the patient.

Researchers with the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center at Tufts University
have found a link in genes involving heart disease and diet. The research examined
apolipoprotein A5 (APOA5), a gene that creates a protein that controls the metabolism of fats in the blood.
The results indicate that people carrying a specific variant of APOA5 may have an increased risk of heart disease,
but only if they ate high amounts of omega-6 fatty acids.
